At the launch ceremony, China State Construction Engineering (Hong Kong) Limited ("CSCEC Hong Kong") announced the launch of the "China Construction Hong Kong Clean Energy Plan" to promote the application of clean energy, continue to lead the low-carbon transformation of the construction industry, and respond to the carbon reduction policies of the State and the HKSAR Government.
The "China Construction Hong Kong Clean Energy Plan" includes three major carbon reduction commitments: first, the vehicles used at the construction site of China Construction Hong Kong will be fully electrified by 2035; The second is to actively explore the first pilot hydrogen energy application in Hong Kong's construction industry, and introduce hydrogen energy as one of the energy supplies at construction sites; The third is to explore the trial implementation of Hong Kong's first all-clean energy construction site, using clean energy such as electricity, solar energy and hydrogen energy as daily energy sources, and is the first enterprise in Hong Kong's construction industry to make a specific commitment to clean energy applications.
At the launch ceremony, China Construction Hong Kong and BYD signed a memorandum of understanding to purchase more than 20 electric vehicles from BYD for the first time as patrol vehicles and conduct a delivery ceremony. China Construction Hong Kong also signed a memorandum of understanding with Sinopec (Hong Kong) Co., Ltd. to take the lead in introducing hydrogen power generation technology in the construction industry and actively explore the application of hydrogen energy in the construction industry.
Mr Tse Chin-wan, Secretary for the Environment and Ecology of the HKSAR Government, said in his speech: "In line with the country's dual carbon targets, Hong Kong is committed to achieving carbon neutrality before 2050, but this requires joint efforts between the HKSAR Government and the business community.
